Tips for Having the Perfect Summer Picnic

Tips for Having the Perfect Summer Picnic

Throw a problem-free picnic this summer with these basic hosting tips.

Once you have got everyone in your family, including your sick pup, back up to 100% and ready for summer, then you might want to all go out on an outdoor outing! If you don’t know the first thing about hosting a picnic, there are tons of tips on throwing a meal outdoors, so that you can have the perfect summertime gathering.

You don’t want to exclude anyone and when you are planning your picnic, because you never know who won’t be able to make it. Firm up commitment from some close friends first, before throwing the picnic, and then open it up to lots of people. You could get to know some new friends outside of Facebook.

Make sure that everyone brings something and get a running tally of what folks have said they will bring. This will help to take some of the burdens of hosting off of your shoulders.

It’s also responsible, as well as respectful, to clean up after your picnic. You don’t want to be known as someone who comes in, sets up, makes a mess and just leaves. Form a cleaning crew and encourage guest to help out!

Don’t Miss the National Memorial Day Parade in DC

Don't Miss the National Memorial Day Parade in DC

Plan your trip to D.C. to catch the National Memorial Day Parade this May.

One of the real amenities to living life at The Bennington is our proximity to so much of our nations history. There are a wealth of opportunities right outside our door, and even more across the river in Washington D.C. If you’re wondering how to spend Memorial Day in the D.C. Beltway, you shouldn’t miss out on the National Memorial Day Parade in DC.

Presented by the American Veterans Center and held each year in Washington D.C., this event is the perfect way for so many citizens to salute and acknowledge our nation’s veterans.

This parade has been revived because of our waning embrace of Memorial Day celebrations. In 2005, The American Veterans Center brought back this amazing parade to our nation’s capital so that Washington D.C. and the whole nation can see and acknowledge the veterans who served for our freedoms, and the veterans who died for them.

Some argue that there is too much reverence for and of the dead for war. However, we can’t forget how different our lives would be and if we would be living at all were it not for our brave brothers and sisters. Be sure to follow us on Twitter to keep up with all the fun things going on in Arlington and DC!
